A speculative literary novel

The Limax Perception

Some stories start with a big idea. This one started with a question that just wouldn’t leave. The Limax Perception is about memory, old records, and the things we think we know about the past. But the more the characters look into it, the less certain everything starts to feel.

About the Author

DMR

Dana Ross has always been interested in the little details people usually overlook. Memories, old stories, forgotten records, the things people remember differently. The Limax Perception grew out of that curiosity and became a story about how far someone might go when they really want to know what happened.

Versions of the past

Origins

A lifelong observer

And the book idea didn’t just show up all at once. It sort of grew over years of noticing small things , asking more questions , and wondering why certain parts of history seem to quietly fade away while other parts remain, stubbornly in place.

Question

What survives?

People forget. Records get lost. Stories change when they’re passed from one person to another. So when all of that happens, what part of the original truth is actually left?

Debut

The Limax Perception

A first novel about memory, uncertainty, and a discovery that makes the past feel a lot less settled than it should.

Mission · Vision · Approach

The three things behind the story

Mission

To tell a story that is interesting on the surface but gives you something else to think about once you've finished reading it.

Vision

To make fiction that feels mysterious and unusual, but still stays close to real people, real emotions, and the questions we all have.

Approach

Start with research. Follow the questions. Let the story grow from there. Nothing has to be perfect from the beginning. Sometimes the interesting part is figuring it out along the way.

About the Book

The Limax Perception

What happens when you find something that doesn’t quite fit the version of the past you’ve always believed? The Limax Perception begins with a discovery that seems small at first. A few records. A few strange details. Nothing that should really change anything. But then the pieces start connecting. Old documents point in different directions. Memories don’t quite match. Things that were supposed to be forgotten start becoming important again.

Slowly, the people involved start to realise they’re not only trying to understand what happened those years ago, but also trying to grasp why it stayed hidden in the first place.  The more they dig in, the more difficult it becomes to say where raw fact stops and lived perception starts, almost like it all blends together. It’s a tale about memory, about doubt, about curiosity, and also that weirdly uncomfortable feeling you get when something you’ve believed for years suddenly stops fitting together anymore.

Notes from the margins

A lot happened behind the book before it ever became a finished story. Research, random ideas, old references, questions that went nowhere, and a few that wouldn’t stop coming back.

These are some of the thoughts and stories from along the way.

Looking Closer at The Limax Perception

Dana Ross debut novel, The Limax Perception, does not open with a dramatic revelation. It opens with the quieter problem of incomplete knowledge. Characters begin examining old records and familiar
